Multiple PIE Center members spent parts of the past two weeks representing the PIE Center and its subsidiary, the National Public Policy Evaluation Center, at a unique graduate-level summer program that helps students understand how science and public policy intersect as well as how to translate research results into useable information for decision makers.
NPPEC, the National Marine Fisheries Service and the UF Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences Program joined forces to shape a Recruiting, Training and Research program to provide students with the necessary training and encouragement to enter the field of fisheries population dynamics.
The program focused on developing and suggesting options for rehabilitating of the sturgeon populations in the Apalachicola Bay and Suwannee River basins.
NPPEC and the PIE Center presented about the importance of effective and targeted communication and facilitated a discussion with representatives in Apalachicola.
