What attracted you to the PIE Center?

The national reputation of the PIE Center was the main attraction. The diversity of the expertise – both in terms of research and media/education development – was also attractive.

What do you hope to accomplish here?

I hope that I can assist the specialists and faculty focus their education and research efforts to develop “outputs” that are relevant and provide Floridians (and beyond) with resources to help them make informed decisions about agriculture- and natural resource-related issues.

Do you have a hidden talent?

I like to sing, so I’m not sure that’s “hidden.” I also like to act, but that’s really not hidden either, since I have to be on-stage to do that. So, no, nothing I do is hidden. What you see is what you get.

What are you afraid of?

Very, very high places. Actually, I guess I would be more afraid of falling from very, very high places.

If you could have any super power, what would it be?

Flight, followed by invulnerability. It’d be cool to fly around, but having bullets bounce off your body would be just as cool.

What are your hobbies?

Reading, kayaking, playing with my granddaughter (that’s technically not a hobby, but it’s where I spend most of my time right now).

If you could meet anyone in history, who would it be?

Jesus would be at the top of the list. After Him, then I would have to say Noah. Anyone who lived in a confined space with all of the animals of the world AND his family for several months has to be a special guy.

What is your favorite type of PIE?

Pecan, followed closely by apple
