The Community Weatherization Coalition (CWC) reduces the energy burden of low-income residents through simple home efficiency tune-ups and education in Alachua County, Florida. These measures help to decrease residents’ utility bills in subsequent years, as well as reducing energy and water use. In a two-year project, the CWC has used Community Based Social Marketing to better meet client needs, conducted year-over-year analysis to measure program impact, and is working to develop local carbon-offsets, all through a unique partnership supported by a grant from the American Public Power Association (APPA) in cooperation with Gainesville Regional Utilities, the local public utility.
Join the CWC and their partners at UF’s Program for Resource Efficient Communities (PREC), and We Are Neutral for a presentation on this project’s methods, results, and recommendations, in a webinar hosted by the UF/IFAS Center for Public Issues Education in Agriculture and Natural Resources.
