The University of Florida/Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (UF/IFAS) Center for Public Issues and Education was asked to assist in developing education and outreach materials for the NOAA NCCOS HAB Forecasting Team. Specifically, the PIE Center contributed to the actualization of the project’s goal of educating Florida Extension agents and Florida residents about harmful algal blooms (HABs) and the science associated with monitoring the effects of HABs. Several outreach components were created by the PIE Center for this project, including: an issue guide, kinetic typography video, rack card, PowerPoint slides, social media kit and webinar.
