GAINESVILLE – Faculty and staff from the UF/IFAS Center for Public Issues Education in Agriculture and Natural Resources met with the center’s advisory board for the annual board meeting via Zoom on October 16.

UF/IFAS Vice President Scott Angle opened the meeting with an update on current IFAS operations and provided an opportunity for advisory board members to ask questions.

New board members Avery Lefils, Katelyn Potter, Mary-Thomas Hart, Heidi Radunovich and Tori Rumenik were in attendance for their first board meeting with the PIE Center.

PIE Center staff updated board members on the center’s work over the past year in research, outreach and education. PIE Center staff also summarized the research projects the center has worked on over the past year and introduced upcoming projects for 2021.

Board members provided feedback and offered suggestions for the future research and discussed ways in which the center can enhance outreach and better reach stakeholders with science-based information.

Small group discussions were facilitated by PIE Center staff in Zoom breakout rooms to address the center’s goals and opportunities for growth. Everyone reconvened and shared highlights from each group’s discussion, providing helpful insight and ideas for the PIE Center moving forward.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Advisory Board Chair Jaime Jerrels and members Lisa Lundy and Regina Thomas were recognized for their contributions as they rotated off the board.
