On March 9 at 11 a.m. Eastern, the University of Florida Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (UF/IFAS) Center for Public Issues Education (PIE Center) will conduct a webinar about American perceptions of COVID-19 and trust in science. The webinar speakers will present findings from a nationwide sample of public opinion data collected between January 8 and January 21, 2021 and focus on topics about willingness to get the COVID-19 vaccine, attitudes toward the vaccine, and the associations between trust in science and the vaccine. The presenters will show longitudinal comparisons between vaccine attitudes from the beginning of the pandemic and the most current public opinion research.
A new communication toolkit related to the COVID-19 vaccines will also be introduced in this webinar. The toolkit was developed in partnership with the PIE Center and the Southeastern Coastal Center for Agricultural Health and Safety. The toolkit includes extensive info sheets that address many commonly asked questions about the COVID-19 vaccines, social media content, a customizable newsletter, and best practices for communication. Access to the toolkit will be provided to attendees during the webinar.
