GAINESVILLE, FL — The UF/IFAS Center for Public Issues Education in Agriculture and Natural Resources (PIE Center) recently welcomed over 150 visitors during an open house event.

The inaugural Mowry Road Show took place on August 9, 2022 from 10AM to 1PM. Nine UF/IFAS units co-hosted the event in an effort to bring awareness to the facilities and services provided in the area.

Being located in the southwest corner of UF campus has its perks, such as ease of parking and lighter traffic. However, units on Mowry Road are visited less frequently due to the distance from main UF campus.

The Mowry Road Show allowed UF faculty, staff and guests to learn about the UF/IFAS units on Mowry Road in a relaxed and fun environment. Visitors were able to participate in activities, win prizes and enjoy complimentary food and beverages.

During the Mowry Road Show, the PIE Center facilitated an interactive demonstration in the center’s new Social Science Research Lab (SSRL). PIE Center staff informed visitors about perception analyzer dials, a  technology used by the center to conduct message testing research.

“The Mowry Road Show was a great outreach event for the PIE Center,” said PIE Center Director Ricky Telg. “We appreciated the opportunity to engage with those in attendance and share about our recent projects.”
