The UF/IFAS Extension Professional Associations of Florida (EPAF) Conference and Symposium brought together Extension professionals from across the state for a week of learning and sharing new ideas. This year’s event motto, “Together Toward Tomorrow,” perfectly captured the PIE Center’s purpose for attending.

In May, the PIE Center welcomed new connections at a booth stocked with informational materials on the center and partner programs, as well as free educational resources intended for Extension programming. The focus of this outreach effort was to promote the PIE Center’s free online toolkits, with the most recent addition focusing on residential fertilizer use in Florida.

Throughout the week, agents, program coordinators, and specialists were greeted at the PIE Center booth by staff. Conversations revolved around the mission of the Center, how the Center collaborates with Extension on projects, and how existing Center resources can be utilized within Extension programs.

PIE Center’s partner program, the Florida Extension Disaster Education Network, also hosted a booth. Dr. Angie Lindsey provided attendees with information and resources on hurricane preparedness and recovery. She promoted participation in an ongoing research project aimed at collecting images of recovery following hurricanes.

At the event’s awards dinner, Lindsay received the Outstanding Specialist award by the Florida Extension Association of Family and Consumer Sciences.

The PIE Center is committed to working in tandem with Extension by providing timely and relevant materials on emerging issues in agriculture and natural resources. For more information on the PIE Center’s toolkits, visit https://piecenter.com/resources/toolkits/.
