2020-2021 Annual Report

With the uncertainty the past year has brought to the world, meaningful connections are more important than ever. This year, the PIE Center has prioritized connecting with stakeholders through efforts in research, outreach and education.

In collaboration with partner programs, the PIE Center explored relevant topics including the impact of COVID-19 on food supply chains, coastal community resilience and industrial hemp cultivation. Outreach initiatives like the new Science by the Slice podcast helped connect diverse audiences to important issues in agriculture and natural resources.

Along with experts in different scientific disciplines, the PIE Center worked to educate the public in a variety of areas, such as disaster preparedness, the COVID-19 vaccine and rural mental health. By creating informational toolkits, the PIE Center connected communities with resources during times of need.
