Aquaculture Toolkit
Informational Messages About Offshore Aquaculture in Florida
The UF/IFAS Center for Public Issues Education in Agriculture and Natural Resources curated the following materials in partnership with the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS) Division of Aquaculture and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) National Centers for Coastal Ocean Science (NCCOS).
The purpose of these materials is to educate various audiences about aquaculture operations in Florida, potential benefits of responsible offshore practices, and how various concerns are being addressed. This toolkit includes social media content, an educational print piece, PowerPoint slides, an informational video, and instructions for how to access and use the materials. How to Use and Access the Toolkit
These educational materials were designed to educate Extension and public audiences about aquaculture operations in Florida. The toolkit presents messages about aquaculture, the possible benefits of responsible offshore aquaculture practices, and how potential concerns are being addressed. These messages are available as social media posts, an issue guide, PowerPoint slides, and an informational video. Expand each tab below to download the toolkit pieces.
Toolkit Guide
In this toolkit guide, you will find information about the project and a summary of all the pieces included in the aquaculture toolkit. It also includes tips for downloading and organizing the content, and instructions on how to share the pieces on social media.
Social Media Posts
Easily post pre-made graphics and accompanying captions to your social media. A suggested dissemination schedule is also included to make sharing simple. These social media posts include general information about aquaculture and its opportunity to exist in Florida, the potential benefits of offshore mariculture, and how concerns are being addressed.
Issue Guide
This two-page issue guide on aquaculture is designed to be an educational print piece. The text and graphics capture key themes about aquaculture operations.
PowerPoint Slides
These PowerPoint slides contain text and graphics about aquaculture in Florida, plus possible benefits of responsible offshore aquaculture practices, and how various concerns are being addressed.
Informational Video
The final piece of the aquaculture toolkit is a short, educational video using animated text and graphics to showcase the benefits of offshore aquaculture. This video can be shared to social media or used as part of a presentation in addition to the PowerPoint slides in this toolkit.
